Still not sure how you meant the comment. I'm old and easily confused.

It's supposed to be a joke that people are suggesting TAO be more open to meeting and hanging out with new people. Guess i fail at that too.

Are you guys able to tell the people on the TNT forums about this? I'm sure a lot may come if there is food and gifts. Also more likely to help out.

I don't know why TNT and TAO just don't join internet forces.

Because they are entirely separate entities, one of which helps the other with staffing. And bribing people with food to come isn't the whole point anyway, it's about doing things fro the other club members who have been there through the year.

Bribing people with food...

My first meeting with you guys was awesome, there were a lot of people there. My first meeting was actually the Christmas party and everyone was exchanging gifts. I got a boob purse, but i didn't care, I had loads of fun laughing with you guys and hanging out.

I showed up for the next one and more than half of the people that were at the last one didn't show up. I showed up again and again, and still, dwindling numbers. I didn't see numbers shoot up till, like last year, was a valentines day party. After that, no numbers, till White Day party.

Numbers only shot up because of gifts and food.

(Take into account I haven't even been to a meeting since like august, so I dunno if your numbers increased or not. I made it to the last Valentines day party and White Day Party and a couple afterward.)

I know you can't supply food every month, thats insane and defeats the whole purpose. BUT, you guys really got to get something else that will make people wanna show up. Classic bait and hook.

I know the girls are the ones that make this party happen, and damn it, I'm dead broke and I'm a dude. If I had money though, I would like to buy some drinks/snacks cause I KNOW people would show up for free food.

Also why people may not show up is because they can pretty much watch all their anime for free on the net. So driving and getting a ride to waste gas just to watch anime that they found already makes it kinda pointless. So now what we need to do, is think of something else that will make them wanna come. Something a little more interactive. I dunno yet. I'll try and think of ideas. But this group needs something a little bit more.

All I can do is draw, all I can think of is me showing up and drawing on the projector for like 10-15 minutes.

Since you guys have that projector, and TNT have people who like making AMV's, you can have like a monthly contest for local made AMV's. Also a monthly contest for other artist. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I would step out of the contest and be more of a director and helper of it. If I could get time to even show up.

There is also video gamers. Maybe every other month you have a video game contest.

I'm not trying to go off topic here, its just that TAO needs a bit more to keep people interested and to keep coming back. So when you have a Valentines day party, you'll have more people willing to help.

I dunno if any of you use the TNT forums, but I posted the new flier on their. Someone said they would post the flier all around their school. I bet if you posted saying there would be a Valentines day party, people will want to come.

Please, think, what would lure you in, what would lure other people in. People crave entertainment and interaction.

It's supposed to be a joke that people are suggesting TAO be more open to meeting and hanging out with new people. Guess i fail at that too.

No, you don't if your aware of having to be open minded to meeting new people. I caught that vibe a couple times at the meeting. Its the anime cultue on top of Oklahoman culture. People just keep to themselves too much.

You have valid suggestions JP, and I thank you for that, but you're preaching to the choir. Now, at the same time, keep in mind, TAO isn't a Video Game club, there's OK Gamers for that, it's not lets make and show off our AMVs, you can do that on youtube or other forums or even animemusicvideos.com, if it's still around.

What the gripe is here is that no one is speaking up to participate among the girls. Among the girls, no one gave or let anyone know if they were going to suggest or tag along. That's the problem.

If it's four of us, providing for all the guys, that's money out of our pockets, giving to people who may or may not deserve it. Which... sounds awful, but you came back, what about the guys that show up for just one meeting and then never come back? I don't know about you, but I don't really want to go out of my way to give for something like that.

Frankly, if the club grows, that's great, if it doesn't grow, that's fine too.

Either way, we'll see what happens.

I always want to see new people coming into the club. Yea sure people can watch anime on the internet, but I enjoy watching it with friends. Laughing at the bad animes and talking about how awesome one just was. Guys out number the girls a lot here, if I had more people saying they wanted to volunteer to do stuff, we might have made it more of a big deal (maybe a full blown party), but no one stepped up. And I can see maybe having an AMV contest and video games maybe at the aniversary/halloween party, but not every month. Like Kash said, thats not the type of club that we are.

Previous v-day parties were a lot bigger yes, but that's b/c me and Kash put our own money into it, we did have some donations that helped, but we did alot oursevles. I didn't want it to be that way again, it's not "Kash and Mindy's Party" it's TAO Valentine's Day Party.

Kay, I got a few points to make here.

a) JP, while your concern is appreciated, you live in Oregon now, dude.  Call me a dick but if you're not even in the state and only came a handful of times, why should we take your ideas into consideration?

b) Richard, the camaraderie joke was lame, straight up.  We try to be open and amiable.  The problem is that for those of us who've been here longer than 6 months (two years for me now), before or after the events of the group, we get a buncha posts about how we can improve the group and things that are wrong and blah blah blah from folks who didn't help set up and don't know what's needed to set up and put things together.  And that won't stop as long as the group is alive, sadly.

c) I don't know what the hell is going on with this "the guys aren't pulling their weight to get girls in the club" thing.  We don't go out recruiting in a gender specific way.  If you wanna come, you come.  If you're a girl and you decide you don't wanna come, you don't.  Same with guys.  No one's at fault here for someone else's actions or lack thereof.  Furthermore, this thread was not about recruiting for the club.  It was about the ladies volunteering to help for Valentine's.  Simple as that.  We weren't even going all out on this party in favor of the guys doing more for White Day.

d)  As Mark said, the girl/guy ratio has changed.  Most of the people who've actually stayed since things changed with Jen and Casey (who the newbs won't know, I'm aware).  Things shifted quite a lot last summer.  We know, we've been trying to get things back in order.

e)  I realize I'm ass.  Deal with it.  Mark just told me he's done with TAO cause he's sick of the same ol' bullshit we gotta deal with.  I'm sick of it myself.  I've made my friends, I can see them outside the group, peace, I'm out.

Yea, my actions were kinda dumb on that part. I've been back since Feb 1st. I'm getting my job back and on my first paycheck I was going to have a stack of fliers made at kinko's. 30 bucks could get me 150. I already know where to post them too. I found sweet spots when I booted up zombie day last year.(Thanks for coming to that by the way, I know it was sorta pathetic.)

SSJ Raptor, I'm going to post those spots and other ideas on the "Tulsa Anime Flyer." Forum I made. I don't have 30 bucks yet, and I dunno when I will, but when I do, I'll spam Tulsa.

Okay, this is going to stop right now.

I don't want to hear any more on this thread, or how it's anyone's fault. It's gotten WAY off topic and I'm tired of the whining and apparent complaints that have occurred and because of it I've probably lost two officers. Way to go guys.

This thread was never about recruitment, or drawing people in, it was a plea to get people to participate on what we had.

Yeah, this is a sounding board and you are completely welcome to your opinion and now that this has gone down, I'm tired of being nice.

I don't want to hear any more about it out of you JP, you don't come and Richard, as for you, this club isn't a place to troll for girls. Get over it. If you want to troll for girls, go find a singles website and do it that way.

Don't you guys get it? Shift of power, we don't want to grow if we don't want to, frankly because we get too many douchebags that cause a lot of unnecessary drama, LIKE NOW.
